I am always looking for new clients and new collaborations from alternative sources. A good friend of mine told me about the website “Fetlife” which is a very well know fetish website. I created an account and set about meeting new people in order to shoot some BDSM or Fetish Photography in an “intimacy” or “Fine Art” style. It’s been almost a year and pretty much nobody is interested in being my friend let alone shoot with me. That was until this young lady who calls herself “CatsEye” on Fetlite. I noticed that she took a lot of BDSM photos so I reached out to her. SWEET LADY O LUCK! She actually responded and was interested in working with me.
We spoke on the phone about a two months later and I tried to explain to her what kind of artistic images I wanted to create. She agreed reluctantly, because I think she had a problem visualizing one of my concepts. So I offered to email her a few general images to help her visualize my concept. The problem was that there really wasn’t any images even close to looking like what I envisioned. So I “appropriated” the photograph she took and posted on Fetlife, and I decided to make her a quick digital manipulation composite photograph to help her visualize my concept. This is how I created it!
I took this image of Cats’s Eye off of her fetlife site.
Then I removed her from the back-ground and saved it using Photoshop.
This entire example was improvised by me but I knew that I wanted to have her hanging over some fire. So I found this “hand on fire” on Bigstock.com It was edited with a black background and I decided to use black as well since it was a BDSM themed art piece. Since it was a black background I didn’t have to remove it from the background.
I then created an all black canvas in Photoshop, added all three photos, and with some textures, blending, painting, and perspective skewing, I created this piece for my future collaboration partner.
